Glossar Double fold

Double fold

Various methods are used to seal tubes, depending on the material. For example, thin metal tubes or laminated tubes are usually sealed using a folding process. There is the so-called single fold and the double fold.

With the double fold, the end of the tube is folded over twice. This creates a particularly tight seal and the tube can no longer be opened. The double seam is usually used for tubes that contain substances that should not be released (e.g. glue or toothpaste).

In contrast, the single seam is only folded over once and is therefore less tight. This is usually used for tubes that are to be reopened.
