And we wouldn’t claim that about ourselves either. And just like us, you should be wary of anyone who tries to sell you their perfection! But we have always strived to continuously improve. After all, Gustav Obermeyer has supplied the packaging industry with well over 1,200 filling and capping machines since 1945. We have been specialists in tube filling and capping machines for over 60 years. In addition, we develop and manufacture filling and capping machines for a wide variety of bottle shapes and jars for applications in the pharmaceutical, chemical, food, and cosmetics industries.

1889

The machine factory is founded by Gustav Obermeyer in Plauen. The founder is extremely entrepreneurial and an expert in what he does. He developed the company and steered it through difficult times. We want to continue this tradition!

1923

Production of turbines and textile machines. We still have the original drawings!

1945

Plauen is severely scarred by the Second World War and Saxony, as part of the Soviet occupation zone, once again becomes part of a dictatorship. The focus of the company changes to tube filling machines and pharmaceutical machines. Here we come closer to our current field of activity.

1976

The company is nationalized as part of the VEB Kombinat Nagema. The socialist leadership removes our founder from the company name. Instead, we operate under the soulless portmanteau word "Spemafa" for special machine factory.

1980

Delivery of the 1,000th tube filling and sealing machine. Our small company is established in the market.

1993

Reprivatization after the reunification of the two German states - now as SpeMaBa GmbH. The range of filling machines and packaging machines remains the same, with automation coming to the fore.

2002

Product range presented for the first time at the trade fair Interpack. Germany comes second at the World Cup in Japan and South Korea.

2005

Age-related takeover of 100% of the (still) SpeMaBa in the form of a management buy-in. Sharpening of the profile through a new model policy. Resumption of export activities.

2008

Tradition and modernity: We are once again trading under the name of our founder Gustav Obermeyer and are building on his innovative strength. We are expanding our model range with new packaging machines and cartoners!

2009

Complete renovation of our company building including energy-efficient refurbishment in the heart of Plauen. Our standard platforms also include oval fillers and our tube filling machines are constantly being optimized.

2010

Our machines are also copied by large companies in the German mechanical engineering industry - that's how creative we are! Our export quota is continuously increasing.

2012

Expansion of our range of tube fillers at the upper and lower end of the performance spectrum: We are adding the TU25, e.g. for the laboratory, and the TU91. We present our new cartoner as part of the Gustav Obermeyer complete line.

2016

Delivery of our first TU110 oval tube filling machine. In combination with the newly developed fully automatic tube feeding system, the output rate can be further increased.

2023

We now also build lines for filling different types of powders, e.g. for filling into vials. Our strengths can be perfectly combined with the new filling technology: The first line delivered was customized for a tightly dimensioned clean room.

2025

The AL55 platform for filling and capping vials, cans and jars once again proves its flexibility. We can thus ensure the automated processing of 21 different format parts on one system - from different bottle sizes and lids to nose spray and dropper inserts.
