Nobody is perfect

And we wouldn’t say that we are. And like us, we would advice you to distrust anyone who tries to sell you their perfection! But we always learn to improve constantly. After all, Gustav Obermeyer has been manufacturing packaging equipment since  1945 and has supplied more than 1,200 filling and capping machines in this period.

Wow! That’s quite a lot! And with each one we got a bit closer to perfection.

1889

Founded by Gustav Obermeyer Maschinenfabrik, Plauen. The founder is extremely entrepreneurial and is not at all bad at what he does. He developed the company and steered it through difficult times. We want to continue this tradition!

1923

Production of turbines and textile machines. We still have the original drawings!

1945

1,000 years of dictatorship are over and we are forced to raise the red flag. Tube filling machines and pharmaceutical machines. Here we come closer to our current field of activity.

1976

The company is integrated into the Nagema Group. Erich Honecker and his comrades finally stole the company. They give the company a truly socialist name - a soulless monstrosity - "Spemafa". We change this to "SpeMaBa" after reunification due to an acute lack of imagination.

1980

Delivery of the 1,000th tube filling and sealing machine. Not bad for our small company.

1993

Start-up with the range of filling machines and packaging machines; Mr. D. Buchner and others are responsible for automation.

2002

SpeMaBa presents its product range at Interpack. However, it is less profitable because up to this point we have only focused on the domestic market.

2005

Takeover of the (still) SpeMaBa by Dr. Thomas W. Richter, sole shareholder. Reconfiguration of the previous obscure model policy. Consideration of the tradition as a German company and resumption of export activities.

2007

Expansion of the model range - now also all packaging machines - and cartoning machines! We have been trading under the name Gustav Obermeyer again since 2008.

2009

Complete renovation of our company building. The former dilapidated building becomes a pearl in the heart of Plauen. Our oval machines become our standard platform and our tube filling machines our centerpiece.

2010

Our machines are also copied by large companies in the German mechanical engineering industry - that's how creative we are! Our export quota is continuously increasing.

2012

Expansion of the model range - the new innovations are the TU 25 and TU 91 tube filling machines. We introduce our new cartoning machines as part of the GOL (Gustav Obermeyer Line - a catchy name, no?). We now also build lines for all types of powder.

2016
