Complete lines for tubes
Tube filling machines have been one of our core competencies at Gustav Obermeyer for decades. In order to guarantee a modern, high-performance and highly automated manufacturing process, we don’t just focus on filling and sealing. We also always consider upstream and downstream steps – especially in our Gustav Obermeyer complete lines for tubes in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
From the tube feeder to the filling machine to the final packaging, integrated systems are created from a single source. Both the individual components and their interaction take into account the individual challenges of each application right from the start. We take care of the design, integration and coordination of all components to create an end-to-end production line.
Our line solutions combine proven machine concepts with feeding systems, cartoning machines and optional end-of-line packaging solutions to create high-performance complete systems.
System overview
A typical tube line can consist of the following components:
- A tube feeding system
- A tube filling and closing machine, possibly with integrated control stations
- A cartoner for individual packaging
- Optional units such as a checkweigher or components for labeling or serialization
- Transport and buffer systems
- systems for final packaging, such as cartoners or case packers
We coordinate all modules mechanically and in terms of control technology.
Areas of application
Our tube filling lines are suitable for:
- Cosmetic products (e.g. creams, gels, lotions)
- Pharmaceutical applications (in compliance with the highest GMP standards)
- Chemical-technical products (e.g. adhesives, pastes, lubricants)
- Life science applications
The configuration of the system is specifically tailored to the parameters of hygienic design, throughput rate and the desired degree of automation.
Service areas
Our complete lines are tailored to your individual requirements. The following performance data serves as a guide:
- Output of up to 160 tubes per minute (depending on product and format)
- Processing of tubes with volumes of up to 500 ml
- Provision of format parts and flexible customization options for different tube diameters and lengths
- Integration of single- and dual-lane processes
Machine integration
Our tube lines are always based on our own filling machines and are supplemented by our own and – if required – by external or existing components. Possible options include
- The integration of cartoners and end-of-line packaging systems
- The integration of checkweighers and inspection systems
- Interfaces to existing production systems
- Expandability for future automation steps
The goal is always an economical and technically mature overall process.
Individual components at a glance
Tube feeder
To ensure a continuous flow of empty tubes for filling, an efficient and easy-to-handle solution for tube feeding is essential. Depending on the desired output rate, the desired degree of automation and the required flexibility, different systems from Gustav Obermeyer are available:
- Our highly flexible and proven tube feeder TZM
- The larger and more powerful TZS30 tube feeding system
- The tried-and-tested TZS110 tube feeding system for maximum product flow
Labeling
Some applications require the application of additional labels and markings in addition to the embossing of the tube seam integrated into the capping machine. Examples are variety designations or country-specific markings. Such tasks can also be integrated into a Gustav Obermeyer tube line.
We use tried-and-tested external labeling modules and systems and integrate them seamlessly into the tube infeed. This means that the individual systems can also be optimally coordinated in terms of space. It is also possible to control the entire system from a single workstation.
Tube filling machine
The heart of our tube lines is always the tube filling machine. This is where we can apply all our experience in this area and combine our tried-and-tested stations on different basic variants. We are familiar with the requirements of various industries such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food or chemicals and take your specific wishes and plans into account when selecting the basic machine.
The following models are available as basic machines:
- Our proven and continuously developed TU60/80 with high robustness and particularly fast format changes
- Our compact TU91 (single-lane) or TU91-2 (double-lane) for high output rates in a small space and particularly easy cleaning
- Our high-performance TU110 oval filler with particularly high flexibility and expansion options for complex processes with additional stations
Cartoning
Even after filling, there are often further processing steps that can be integrated into a Gustav Obermeyer line. These include, in particular, inserting the filled tube into a folding box, possibly with an instruction leaflet, or packing several tubes together on trays.
In addition to our own HKF50 cartoner, a compact and versatile horizontal cartoner, and our GKAT90, we also integrate external systems from specialized suppliers into our lines for special requirements. We are happy to support and advise you with our experience in the selection process and supply the complete line from a single source.
Advantages of your Gustav Obermeyer line
A complete line from Gustav Obermeyer offers numerous advantages. Friction losses are avoided right from the planning and design stage if everything comes “from a single source”. The effort and uncertainties involved in defining interfaces within the line are significantly reduced or taken over by us for you. Externally – for example to your production environment – the filling and packaging line functions as a closed unit with clearly defined and uniform transitions.
Thanks to the combination of proven, in-house machines and tried-and-tested third-party components, we can guarantee a high level of reliability, individual adaptability and long-term expandability.
In the following video you can see an example of the combination of a labeler, our TU60 M and a third-party cartoner. This solution enables the filling of artist colors with frequently changing types and formats in a small space:
