Using the main entrance for visiting the Long Night of the Sciences at TU Chemnitz, you immediately hit upon it: The compact tube filling machine TU25 was doing its job of filling and sealing metal tubes right in the entrance hall. This machine is a permanent loan of Gustav Obermeyer GmbH & Co. KG to the Chair for Installation and Handling Technology of Herr Prof. Dr.-Ing. Maik Berger. Usually, the TU25 is used in research and education of students at TU Chemnitz. Now, it was accessible for the general public.
The machine – one of the smalles tube filling machines in Gustav Obermeyers portfolio – was met with great interest. Many visitors stopped for a few moments to watch the TU25 working. Step by step, at the various stations of the rotary indexing table, an aluminum tube was fed, aligned, (notionally) filled, crimp sealed in multiple iterations and ejected.https://youtube.com/shorts/v389nhnZlwI?feature=shared
The important details have been further illustrated by an animation, that had been created by one of Prof. Berger’s students. A large display, right next to machine, showed this animation together with other interesting sequences of the machines’ use at the university.
We would like to thank TUC, Prof. Berger and his team for this interesting day and evening. All the departments and institutes did a great job in presenting their fields to the public. The social program, catering on campus and the band completed this nice day.
